FCA Review Context

Were You Charged a Hidden Commission on Your Car Finance?

Before January 2021, car dealers could set their own interest rates on finance agreements — and many used this to earn higher commissions. Most customers were never told, meaning millions may have paid far more than they should have.

The FCA has now confirmed its redress scheme. Over £7.5 billion is set to be returned to UK drivers — with average payouts of around £830 per agreement.

Each case is reviewed on its own merits. Submitting your details now means ClaimWise can locate your agreements and begin preparing your case before the key deadlines pass.

Your Claim Is Reviewed Individually

Every finance agreement is assessed on its own merits under the FCA's confirmed scheme. The deadline to complain is 30 June 2026 for agreements taken out from April 2014, and 31 August 2026 for earlier agreements. Submitting your details now gives us the best chance of locating your agreements and preparing your case in time.

Transparency First

Good To Know

We believe in being upfront. Here's everything you should know before you start your claim with ClaimWise.

£200 Fixed Fee

You only pay if your claim is successful — and when it is, our fee is a simple, transparent £200 fixed fee. No percentages, no surprises. A cancellation fee may apply outside the 14-day cooling-off period. We may receive a referral fee for introducing you to a panel solicitor — this does not affect any compensation you receive.

Your Right to Choose

You are not required to use a claims management company. You have the right to pursue your motor finance mis-selling claim directly with your lender, through the Financial Ombudsman Service, or via the FCA's industry-wide redress scheme. We will always aim to maximise your outcome, but there is no guarantee we will recover more than you could achieve independently.

FCA Updates

On 30 March 2026, the FCA confirmed a mass redress scheme covering motor finance agreements taken out between April 2007 and November 2024. Around 12.1 million agreements are expected to be eligible, with average payouts of approximately £830 per agreement. Registering your details now means you will be ready when lenders begin processing claims.

You do not need to use a claims management company to make a complaint to your lender. If your complaint is not resolved, you can refer it to the Financial Ombudsman Service free of charge, or wait for the FCA's redress scheme to process your case.
